About Me

Hi, I’m Candice Stern, an independent graphic designer and art director working in the metropolitan New York City area. With more than 15 years of professional experience, I’ve designed hundreds of projects to meet with the exacting standards of a wide range of clients.

Throughout my career, I’ve worked in small design studios, big agencies and gigantic corporations touching nearly every aspect of graphic design and the creative process. You name it, I’ve designed it: annual reports, brochures, marketing collateral, logos and business identities, wedding invitations, and plenty more. My work has also won many awards.

Although I’ve lived in Washington, DC and Manhattan, I’m a Jersey girl at heart and set up shop in the Garden State. I currently live in Hoboken with my computer-programming hubby Dave, my precocious daughters, Haven and Harper, and our three rescued pugs, Cassie, Roscoe and Chewy.

Working Together

Running my own business allows me to devote as much time to collaboration with my clients as necessary (only a dream back in my cubicle days!). I really love getting to know my clients, and the better I can put myself in your shoes, the easier it is for us to come up with design solutions we all love.

Drawing on my years of experience, I can quickly understand how to help a large company communicate with their shareholders in an annual report, a small business’s need to encapsulate its personality and product into a company logo, or how to work best with a bride to help create her dream wedding invitation — all projects and clients get my full attention!

Whether we’re meeting in person or connecting online or through conference calls, I take the time to learn exactly what you’re looking for (even if you don’t know at first) by getting to know your preferences and personal style ideas. Then, I’ll come back with multiple approaches until you’re completely happy. I look forward to working together.

Testimonials

Candice is a font of creativity and fresh ideas. Working with her on my company's complete graphic identity was a fantastic experience. First and foremost, she listened to me. We did some very collaborative brainstorming and then she came back with spot-on, contemporary approaches to address not only the primary objectives I had in mind, but several I hadn't even considered. Her enthusiasm is palpable and it shows in her work. Candice's designs pop off the page (or screen), and her technical know-how is quite impressive. It's clear that her years of experience have helped her arrive with a concise graphic-design sensibility all her own. I look forward to working with her again and again.

Candice Stern is a brilliant designer. We were fortunate she agreed to design the brand identity, Web site and collateral for BarnRaisers Group, our new marketing firm that builds brand communities. Her designs make an instant impact. Our logo communicates "people with shared passions connecting" along with "barn raising" in one iconic design. Our Web site and blog designs are getting us attention, followers and contact requests. Clients tell us repeatedly how much they love the concept of our business card. The flap (representing a red barn door opening) not only reinforces our name, it makes an unforgettable first impression that never fails to bring a smile to people's faces.

If great design is powerful, Candice Stern Design is a powerhouse.

It's rare to find a designer who is so accommodating of a client's needs while having the vision to take an idea run with it. Candice has been a pleasure to work with, helping us develop high-quality, professional marketing materials on a tight budget. I'd recommend her to anyone who comes my way.

Think graphic design can't be art? You owe it to yourself (and your clients) to work with Candice Stern Graphic Design. From brand identities to annual reports to web sites to advertising, her work is always exciting, conceptual and loved by clients. Equally important — she is a pleasure to work with. Candice Stern Graphic Design is my first choice for my most important projects.

We hired Candice to produce several of our communications and I wish we had found her sooner. In addition to producing great creative, she also handles the account work with great skill… she was always available to take my calls, she answered all of my emails promptly and she helped us stay within budget without sacrificing quality. She is a problem solver and she pays great attention to detail. I've worked with ad agencies and have had the usual problems with all of them. Going forward, Candice will be our first choice for all of our future projects.

I am a yoga teacher and a wellness coach and have a small business called Bodywise Wellness. I needed a logo and asked Candice to design it. I am so proud to hand out my business cards and send people to my website. The logo reflects who I am and feels very healthy and zen. Candice also designed letterhead, a masthead for my e-newsletter, yoga pose cards, one-pagers for my services, and signage for a tradeshow. I am just one person but my materials make me look like I have a company of 500 employees!

I really enjoyed working with Candice on my wedding invitations. She helped me step back and think about the invitations as a way to create an overall feeling and theme for my wedding. Candice also created supporting pieces such as Save the Date bookmarks, recipe cards for favors (since I like to cook!), and place cards and confetti that brought elements from the invitations into the wedding reception itself. I particularly loved that all of the pieces reflected my personality so well and were very non-traditional looking. I received so many compliments on them from my guests!
